Verification Opinion
The Verification Opinion consists of the document issued by an Organization that certifies the relevance, integrity, consistency, transparency and precision of the information contained in the emissions reports incorporated into the National Emissions Registry (RENE), through which, the Establishments subject to reporting inform the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), emissions and transfers.
The establishments that must present the Verification Opinion will be those that generate 25,000 tons or more of Carbon Dioxide Equivalent (tCO₂e) of Compounds and Greenhouse Gases (CyGEI) emissions from the following sectors:
• Energy
• Industry
• Transport
• Agricultural
• Waste
• Shops and Services

Legal Term
In accordance with the second paragraph of article 16 of the RLGCCRNE, the Verification Opinion must be submitted together with the emissions report that will be incorporated into the RENE, every three years before SEMARNAT during the period from July 1 to November 30 of the year in which this obligation is generated, that is, every third year.
It is important to mention that, in this exercise and due to prevention issues for the spread of the COVID-19 virus, on June 30, 2020, the agreement was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation by which the deadline for the presentation of the Verification Opinion corresponding to the year 2019, from October 1, 2020 to February 28, 2021.
