Environmental Standard for the Federal District NADF-019-AMBT-2018
The purpose of the standard is to establish the requirements and specifications for the correct separation, storage, collection, collection, transportation, treatment, recycling and disposal of electrical and electronic waste within the territory of Mexico City.
In this sense, it is understood that electrical and electronic waste are all those devices that need electric current to function properly, which when discarded can be recovered or subjected to treatment for recycling and final disposal.
The rule in question is mandatory for the natural or legal person that generates an amount equal to or greater than 10 tons in total gross weight of waste per year or its equivalent in another unit of measurement of electrical and electronic waste, such as those persons. public or private that, derived from their industrial, commercial and service activities directly or indirectly produce electrical and electronic waste, as well as producers, marketers and service providers who intervene in their collection and management, establishing obligations in the following items:
• Criteria and technical specifications for generators.
• Criteria and technical specifications that must be observed for the collection and transport of electrical and electronic waste.
• Criteria and technical specifications that must be met by establishments that carry out activities to make use of electrical and electronic waste through collection, recycling and treatment.
• Criteria and specifications that producers, marketers and distributors of electrical and electronic equipment must meet, including the implementation of management plans.
In this regard, as of the entry into force of this Standard (December 18, 2020), producers, marketers and distributors of electrical and electronic devices must submit to the Secretariat of the Environment of the Government of Mexico City or the competent authority, within a maximum period of six months, its respective Electrical and Electronic Equipment Waste Management Plan, through which the actions, procedures, methodologies and means to manage electrical and electronic equipment waste are detailed and included.
