Environmental Obligations July 2020

The purpose of this document is to inform you about the obligations in environmental matters corresponding to the month of July 2020.

A) QUARTERLY PAYMENT OF RIGHTS FOR THE USE OF NATIONAL WATERS
Individuals and legal entities that use, exploit or take advantage of national waters, either in fact or under the protection of titles of assignment, concession, authorization or permit, granted by the Federal Government, are obliged to pay the corresponding rights.

Legal term

In accordance with article 226 of the LFD, the payment of the right for the use of national waters must be made no later than the last business day of the months of January, April, July and October, by means of a definitive quarterly declaration that must be presented in the offices authorized by the Tax Administration Service.

B) VERIFICATION OPINION
The Verification Opinion consists of the document issued by an Organization that certifies the relevance, integrity, consistency, transparency and precision of the information contained in the emissions reports incorporated into the National Emissions Registry (RENE), through which, the Establishments subject to reporting inform the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), emissions and transfers.

The establishments that must present the Verification Opinion will be those that generate 25,000 tons or more of Carbon Dioxide Equivalent (tCO₂e) of Compounds and Greenhouse Gases (CyGEI) emissions from the following sectors:

• Energy

• Industry

• Transport

• Agricultural

• Waste

• Shops and Services

Articles 2, section II and 16, of the Regulation of the General Law on Climate Change regarding the National Emissions Registry.

Legal term

In accordance with the second paragraph of article 16 of the RLGCCRNE, the Verification Opinion must be submitted together with the emissions report that will be incorporated into the RENE, every three years before SEMARNAT during the period from July 1 to November 30 of the year in which this obligation is generated, that is, every third year.
